A Kenyan national, Mr. Samuel Njagi Mbugu, who was abducted at his workplace in Ethiopia on October 28th, 2025, has been successfully freed and is on his way home.

However, the news of his release has been met with a wave of public anger over the government's perceived silence on the fate of two activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who remain missing in Uganda.

The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary confirmed Mr. Mbugu's release on Tuesday, November 4th.

The official statement detailed that his freedom came after "difficult negotiations" involving the Kenyan Embassy and a ransom payment of 3 million Kenyan Shillings by his employer, Ardagh Glass Packing.

He is now expected to land at JKIA to be reunited with his family.

The public's reaction to the government's announcement was, however, sharp and immediate.

Instead of widespread celebration for Mbugu, many citizens seized the moment to demand answers and action for Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo.

The two activists disappeared under mysterious circumstances in Uganda more than a month ago.

Social media users quickly flooded the government's official posts with pointed questions.

One user bluntly asked, "Now can you tell us the whereabouts of Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo?"

Another commenter added, "Let's not forget Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo. They are Kenyan citizens," reflecting a growing frustration among the public.

This growing anger hint at a stark contrast in the handling of the two cases. While a resolution was found for the citizen held in Ethiopia, the lack of any significant updates on the two men missing in Uganda is fueling accusations of government inaction and silence, putting officials under increasing pressure to provide answers.
