President William Ruto’s close ally, Farouk Kibet, has strongly criticized Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, accusing him of betraying his voters and failing to bring any development to Malava.
Speaking during a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rally in Malava on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Farouk told residents that Khalwale no longer represents their interests and urged them to end his political career in the next election.
Farouk said that despite being elected on a UDA ticket, Khalwale has chosen to work with the opposition instead of supporting President Ruto’s government.
He accused the senator of neglecting development projects and ignoring the needs of his people.
“Khalwale has nothing to show for the two years he has been in office. He has failed to deliver and has now turned against the same party that gave him victory,” Farouk said, as the crowd cheered loudly.
He further claimed that Khalwale was secretly supporting Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako in the ongoing Malava by-election, instead of standing with UDA’s choice, David Ndakwa.
Farouk said this was a clear sign of betrayal to the president and the ruling party’s mission to strengthen its base in Western Kenya.
“Anyone working against the president’s development agenda should not be allowed to mislead our people. Kakamega deserves leaders who are loyal and focused on progress,” he said.
Farouk’s remarks appeared to deepen divisions within UDA’s Western Kenya camp, where Khalwale’s independent political style has often caused tension with Ruto’s close allies.
Political analysts say Farouk’s attack may signal the beginning of a serious political battle in Kakamega as the 2027 elections approach.
Many now believe the UDA leadership could replace Khalwale with a new face who fully supports the president’s vision.
