Pastor Victor Kanyari stirred emotions in his church after dedicating an entire Sunday service to remembering his late ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo.

The preacher admitted that the pain of losing her is still heavy on his heart.

Bayo died on November 10 after a long struggle with leukaemia and was buried on November 20.

She was the mother of Kanyari’s two children, and despite their separation, the pastor said he always cared for her and supported her.

During the service, Kanyari became emotional after seeing Bayo’s photo on the screen, saying it reminded him of how deeply he loved her.

He recalled financing her trips abroad and ensuring she and the children were comfortable whenever they travelled.

He shared a moment with his daughter, Sky, who recently asked him what plans he had for her and her brother now that their mother is gone.

The question, he said, caught him by surprise and showed him how much responsibility now rests on his shoulders.

Kanyari also hinted at the possibility of having more children in the future.

Speaking humorously, he said he would prefer a simple “kienyeji” woman, noting that children bring comfort and give parents strength during difficult times.

A close member of his church revealed that Kanyari is still struggling emotionally but is doing his best to remain strong for his children.

The pastor also said the children will continue living with Tash, their stepmother, as he believes it will help them cope better.

Kenyans have continued to send him messages of support, with many hoping he finds healing and strength as he adjusts to life after Bayo’s passing.
