The political heat is rising once again after former Malava by-election candidate Seth Panyako broke his silence following his defeat, issuing a bold message to the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 polls.
Panyako, who ran under the Democratic Action Party (DAP-K), did not hold back while speaking to journalists.
The outspoken nurses' union Secretary General said the opposition must “wake up fast” or brace themselves for a painful defeat in 2027.
According to Panyako, the recent by-elections—especially the hotly contested Malava race—revealed deep vulnerabilities within the opposition.
His main competitor, UDA’s David Ndakwa, was declared the winner, a result Panyako still insists did not reflect the will of the people.
He accused powerful state-linked individuals of orchestrating a coordinated plan to lock him out of victory.
He pointed to incidents of voter bribery, intimidation and violence, claiming these tactics were used to sway the contest.

Panyako has now issued a stern caution to opposition leaders: either push for a restructured electoral commission or prepare to watch UDA sweep the next general election.
He emphasized that ignoring the lessons from recent by-elections would be a grave mistake—one that could cost the opposition every major seat in 2027.
