The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced 410 job opportunities for Kenyan graduates to work in Saudi Arabia, offering a fresh chance for skilled youth to gain international work experience and earn competitive salaries.

The announcement was made on Monday, December 15, as part of ongoing efforts to connect trained young Kenyans with global employment opportunities.

According to NYS, the vacancies are available in logistics, warehouse operations, and fisheries retail.

The positions are open strictly to male candidates who have completed NYS training and possess the required skills and certifications.

The agency said the opportunities are offered by a reputable company based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with strong operations in industrial services, logistics, and retail.

“These opportunities are ideal for disciplined and skilled NYS graduates who are looking to grow their careers in a competitive international environment,” NYS stated in its announcement.

Among the available positions are 150 forklift operator jobs. Successful candidates will earn between 1,450 and 1,800 Saudi Riyals per month, which translates to approximately Ksh49,800 to Ksh61,800.

The forklift operators will be responsible for moving, loading, and unloading goods in warehouses and industrial sites while following safety guidelines.

To qualify for the forklift operator positions, applicants must have completed an artisan course in plant operation and hold a valid forklift certificate from NYS, NTSA, NITA, or another recognized institution.

A good command of the English language is required, while prior work experience and a suitability test certificate will be an added advantage.

NYS also announced 100 vacancies for pickers. These employees will earn the same salary range of 1,450 to 1,800 Saudi Riyals per month.

Their duties will include picking, scanning, staging, and preparing goods for dispatch in warehouses. They will also be expected to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency standards at all times.

The qualifications for pickers are similar to those of forklift operators. Applicants must have relevant training, basic English communication skills, and valid certification. Previous experience in warehouse operations will be an added advantage but is not mandatory.

In addition, 50 positions are available for fisheries sales associates, commonly known as fish mongers. These roles come with a monthly salary of between 1,600 and 1,800 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about Ksh55,000 to Ksh61,800.

The job will involve handling and preparing seafood, assisting customers, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring fish counters remain clean and well-organized.

Applicants for the fisheries roles must have a diploma in food science, food and beverage production, or a related course. Experience in seafood handling or retail sales will be an added advantage.

NYS explained that all successful candidates will be employed on two-year renewable contracts. The employer will cater for visas, resident permits, accommodation, transport, food allowance, medical insurance, uniforms, and job-related training. Employees will work eight hours a day, six days a week, in line with Saudi labour laws.

In addition, workers will be entitled to 30 days of annual leave, overtime pay, and other benefits as provided by law. NYS also noted that round-trip air tickets will be issued every two years, making it easier for employees to travel back home.

Interested and eligible candidates have been advised to apply online through the official NYS application platform.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and invited for practical tests and interviews at the National Youth Service Nairobi Holding Unit on Wednesday, December 17.

The announcement comes at a time when the government is pushing to reform and expand the role of NYS. Recently, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geofrey Ruku revealed plans to commercialize the National Youth Service.

He said the government is in the process of setting up the National Youth Service Enterprises and Services Company, which will act as the commercial arm of NYS.

According to the ministry, the move is aimed at creating more employment opportunities for young Kenyans while making NYS financially sustainable.

For many graduates, the Saudi Arabia job openings present a valuable opportunity to earn, gain experience, and support their families back home.

NYS has encouraged qualified candidates to apply early and prepare adequately for the selection process.
