Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge has claimed that happenings during former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's funerals are causing problems within the ODM party.
Njoroge claims that some ODM figures are unhappy that Jubilee Party Leader, Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was well received in Raila's turf, since it is a threat to their own popularity.
She alleges that these are the people now trying to tarnish Uhuru's reputation in Raila's stronghold by painting him as the man behind the ongoing division within the party.
“It’s obvious that Uhuru Kenyatta’s popularity, even in ODM zones and the reception he got during Baba’s funeral, is really bothering some people," she claimed on Monday.
Instead of dealing with their own internal disagreements, they have decided to make him the scapegoat."
Njoroge said this while defending Uhuru, whom she insisted has no business interfering in ODM matters or trying to break the outfit, since he has no plans for 2027.
She maintained that rather, ODM's divisions are internal and its members should focus on putting their house in order and not looking for people to blame.
“When people refuse to face the hard reality, they look for a bogeyman to blame. Uhuru Kenyatta is not a candidate in 2027 and has nothing to gain from dividing ODM.
What he is is a widely respected and much-loved statesman. Stop this unnecessary propaganda."
In her view, ODM's problems emanate from disagreements on whether to stick to President William Ruto and his government or look for other options towards 2027.
