Taifa Leo has noted that President William Ruto could be reverting to his 2022 strategy, by targeting hustlers, Mama Mboga and Bodaboda to boost his chances of retaining power in 2027 Presidential Elections.

The publication notes that the Head of State seems to have woken up after low-income Kenyans complained about harsh government policies which they claimed were economically oppressive.

Recently, President Ruto has been running parallel meetings, hosting bodaboda operators, grassroots leaders, and Gen Z youth groups at State House, Nairobi.

“This country does not belong only to the rich but also to people from lower, middle, and upper classes. Kenyans from all walks of life contribute to the nation’s economic prosperity,” said President Ruto.

And according to a lecturer and political analyst, Prof. David Monda, after losing the Mount Kenya vote base, Dr William Ruto faces a tough task in winning votes in 2027 as he did in 2022.

“He has Nyanza where the Gusii region has shifted to Fred Matiang’i, while in Western his support is shaky. At the Coast, he has never been popular. So, the President has a huge battle ahead of him in 2027,” said Prof. Monda.

The analyst argued that the fundraising events in which Ruto and Prof. Kindiki participate only create opportunities for the misuse of public funds and taxpayers’ money.
