Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday took a swipe at DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua over his recent claims that he controls millions of votes in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.
Speaking during the Nyota Programme event in Garissa County, which was attended by President William Ruto, Kindiki questioned how Gachagua arrived at the figures he has been publicly declaring ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua has been claiming that he commands over six million votes, which he could channel to an opposition candidate. However, Kindiki appeared to dismiss the claims, arguing that leadership starts at the grassroots.
“Unasema uko na kura kwa mfuko, sijui utapea nani. Hizo kura umetoka wapi?” Kindiki posed, sparking laughter among the youth in attendance.
The Deputy President further claimed that some of Gachagua’s own MP and MCAs do not politically align with him, questioning how he intends to mobilize millions of votes while allegedly struggling to consolidate support in his own backyard.
