Since winning the 2022 general elections, the head of state and government president William Ruto has seemingly used and dump some of his closes friends mainly prior to the formation if the Broad Based government arrangements that brought together President Ruto and the former Prime minister the late Raila Odinga.

Some of the key politicians qho have already been shown the door since the formation of the Broad Based government arrangements upto now includes the former deputy governor Rigathi Gachagua who was impeached back in 2024.

Others in the list are, former Agriculture cabinet secretary Mithika Linturi, former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justine Muturi, former Education Cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu, former ICT cabinet secretary Eliud Owalo.

A recent Daily Nation article (from around this time) titled "Used and dumped? Ruto allies now fierce critics" highlights this trend, listing several former key supporters turned opponents after losing positions:

Rigathi Gachagua — Former Deputy President, impeached in 2024 amid tensions; now a vocal critic and leader in the opposition space via DCP.

Cleophas Malala — Former UDA Secretary-General; ejected from the party in 2024 (reportedly seen as a liability or Gachagua ally), later aligned with Gachagua in DCP, and has publicly criticized Ruto.

Justin Muturi — Former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service; removed or in conflict, with reports of attempts to oust him and him becoming critical.

Ndindi Nyoro — Former chairperson of the powerful National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee; removed in March 2025 after staying neutral on Gachagua's impeachment (disobeying party lines), leading to a fallout despite once being a close Ruto ally and potential 2027 running mate contender.

These individuals (along with others like Eliud Owalo or Boni Khalwale) are often cited in lists of "Ruto's used and dumped" figures in outlets like Taifa Leo, social media posts, and analyses.

Critics describe Ruto's style as transactional rewarding loyalty temporarily but discarding when convenient while supporters argue some exits were due to ambition, underperformance, or independent actions (e.g., Owalo resigned, Malala became a party liability).
