Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Alice Ng’ang’a Wahome, has reaffirmed her unwavering support for President William Ruto, declaring that leaders from Murang’a County will not be divided along ethnic or political lines.

Speaking to residents of Kaguta in Murang’a County, Wahome made it clear that the Mt. Kenya region remains firmly behind President Ruto and will continue supporting him until 2032.

She emphasized the importance of remembering political history, reminding the crowd of remarks made by former President Uhuru Kenyatta during a rally at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

“Unajua wakati mwingine ni vizuri tuwe tunaikumbuka historia. Wakati Uhuru alikuja Nakuru alisema take kumi na ya Ruto kumi. Sasa nyinyi mnataka twende wapi? Sisi tuko kwa Ruto mpaka 2032,” Wahome said.

Translated, she meant that it is important for Kenyans to remember what was previously agreed upon by their leaders. She referenced Uhuru Kenyatta’s statement that he would serve for ten years and then his deputy, William Ruto, would also serve for ten years.

Wahome questioned why some leaders are now trying to separate the Mt. Kenya region from President Ruto, insisting that Murang’a leaders are united and committed to honoring that political understanding.

As a close political ally of President Ruto, Wahome dismissed claims that the Mountain region is divided. She stressed that Murang’a leaders will not allow ethnicity or internal politics to weaken their unity.

However, the political landscape in Central Kenya continues to generate debate. Political analyst Professor Herman Manyora has recently warned President Ruto to remain vigilant, suggesting that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua could be reshaping political influence in the region.

Manyora cautioned that Gachagua is not to be underestimated and may be positioning himself as a significant force in Mt. Kenya politics.

The unfolding dynamics raise important questions about the region’s unity and the future of Ruto’s support base.

While Wahome projects confidence in Mt. Kenya’s loyalty to the President, emerging political voices and shifting alliances could test that solidarity in the coming years.

In my view, Mt. Kenya’s unity will largely depend on how national leadership addresses economic concerns and development priorities in the region.

Ruto’s support remains strong, but political competition and evolving ambitions could influence future alignments. Ultimately, performance, delivery of promises, and inclusive leadership will determine whether the Mountain stays solidly behind him through 2032.
