United Opposition leaders on Tuesday failed to address residents of South Mugirango after a heavy downpour disrupted their planned stopover at Nyamarambe in South Mugirango.
The leaders arrived in the area while it was raining heavily, forcing them to leave as supporters watched from nearby shades.
The Constituency is lead by UDA MP Sylvanus Osoro, who is a stern critic of the opposition.
The South Mugirango rally had been scheduled as one of several stopovers during their tour of the larger Kisii region.
Earlier in the day, the team made stops at Marani in Kitutu Chache North, Nyakoe Market in Kitutu Chache South, Suneka in Bonchari Constituency, Kegogi in Kitutu Chache North, and Nyamira Town in West Mugirango.
However, the South Mugirango engagement was ultimately cancelled due to the unfavorable weather.
Speaking during the tour, Jubilee Party leader and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i questioned why some leaders allegedly resort to violence to block opponents from campaigning.
He emphasized that democracy requires tolerance, noting that leaders should allow divergent views and give citizens the freedom to make their own political choices without intimidation.
