Be Ready: KPLC Lists Regions To Receive Power Blockout Tomorrow, Check If You'll Be Affected

Kenya Power has scheduled planned electricity interruptions across several regions in the country on Friday, March 20, 2026. The outages are part of routine maintenance aimed at ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for customers.

According to the utility company, the planned outages will take place between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, depending on the specific area. Kenya Power shared the schedule on its official social media accounts, advising residents to plan ahead.

In the Western region, residents of Kakamega County, including Lubao Market, Bukhaiwa, Emusala, Orthopaedic Hospital, Emukaba, Mwiyala, National Housing, Showground, Okumu, and The Kisii senator went on to talk about schools.surrounding areas, will experience power interruptions during the specified hours.

Parts of Nyamira County in South Nyanza will also be affected. Areas listed include Kipkebe, Chebilat, Mogusii, Kipkebe Tea, Mogusi, Sotik Tea, St. Mathias Mulumba, Kitaru, Mokomoni, and neighboring customers.

Kenya Power Managing Director Joseph Siror noted that a majority of power outages in Kenya are caused by trees and vegetation interfering with power lines. 

“About 50 to 70 percent of our outages are due to trees. A few years ago, we initiated an intensive program to clear vegetation along power lines, but this remains a major challenge,” he said.

Customers are urged to plan for these outages and ensure safety measures are observed, including keeping emergency lights and backup power ready where necessary.
