Celebrations have erupted in a village in Bungoma County after a local farmer recorded an unusually large harvest at a time when many farmers in the region were complaining about poor yields.

The farmer, who grows maize and beans on a small piece of land, had gone through several difficult seasons in the past.

According to neighbours, drought and unpredictable weather had previously affected his farm, leaving him with little produce to sell.

Last season was expected to be even worse.

Many farmers in the area reported that their crops had been affected by erratic rainfall and pests, forcing some of them to harvest far less than they had anticipated.

However, when the harvest period arrived, something unexpected happened on the farmer’s land.

While neighbouring farms produced modest yields, his field stood out with healthy maize plants and well developed cobs. Villagers say the harvest filled several storage bags, surprising many people who had expected a poor season.

“When people were complaining about losses, his farm was doing extremely well. Everyone started asking what he had done differently,” said one neighbour.

The farmer explained that he had changed several farming practices after learning new methods from agricultural officers and fellow farmers.

He also invested more time in preparing the soil and monitoring the crops during the growing season.

Agriculture experts often say that good farming practices, timely planting and proper crop care can significantly improve harvest results even when weather conditions are challenging.READ MORE............................
