Today the Ministry of Housing has reported that the Affordable Housing Project risks coming to a stall because of the funding shortfall.

According to the source Principal Secretary for the State Department for Housing, Charles Hinga who was speaking to the parliament said that the programme’s donor funding allocation has now been reduced by Ksh. 800 million under the FY 2025 - 2026 Supplementary Budget I.

The new development means that the budget of housing reduces from Ksh13.3 billion to Ksh12.5 billion.

Charles Hinga told the parliamentary committee that the cut in budget could hamper the delivery unit to Kenyans.

He revealed that currently the government has 1,700 active housing project but already they are facing severe personnel shortages even others are working up to three shifts just to meet the timelines.
