No More Stories: Ruto Dismisses Sifuna as ‘Self-Appointed Supervisor’ of ODM-UDA Deal

President William Ruto has finally drawn a hard line in the sand regarding the broad-based government agreement, effectively telling Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi camp that their services as self-appointed auditors are not required.

Speaking with a sharp edge of finality on March 10, the President made it clear that the 10-point agenda was never a debt owed to specific individuals or a contract subject to external timelines.

By framing the pact as a voluntary commitment between political parties rather than an imposed obligation, Ruto is moving to decapitate the narrative that his administration is answerable to a checklist held by the ODM Secretary General.

The tension has reached a boiling point because Sifuna has been vocal about the March 7 deadline, claiming that the window for cooperation has closed and demanding a final report on the implementation of the MoU.

However, the President is now pivoting to a broader audience, insisting that his only duty of care and reporting is to the citizens of Kenya.

This stance essentially renders the Linda Mwananchi oversight role obsolete in the eyes of the executive.

Ruto is signaling that while the political deal brought stability, it did not grant his critics a permanent seat as supervisors of his Cabinet or his policy direction.

This public dismissal comes at a critical time for the opposition. While Sifuna pushes for a clean break and an audit of failed promises, other factions like the Linda Ground team led by Dr. Oburu Odinga appear more inclined to maintain the current rapport.

By rejecting the supervisor tag, Ruto is not just dismissing Sifuna but is also testing the internal cohesion of the opposition.

He is betting that by speaking directly to the people, he can bypass the political gatekeepers who want to hold his feet to the fire over a document he now considers a settled matter of party cooperation.
