Following the tragic death of the vocal Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, several Kericho Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have criticized Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for comments he made regarding the late legislator.

Speaking to the media, the MCAs accused Gachagua of insensitivity, noting that he had been among the first to publicly announce MP Ng’eno’s death, even before the family had been formally informed.

“It is unacceptable that a public figure jumps ahead of the bereaved family to make such announcements. It shows a lack of respect for the late MP and his loved ones,” one MCA said.

The MCAs also challenged Gachagua’s claim that MP Ng’eno had been his supporter. They emphasized that the late MP had previously assured that he would support President William Ruto in the 2027 elections, making Gachagua’s assertions misleading. “MP Ng’eno was clear in his political stance. He was a supporter of President Ruto and not anyone else. Gachagua should stop making unfounded claims,” another MCA added.

The MCAs urged political leaders to exercise caution and show sensitivity during such delicate times, warning against politicizing personal tragedies. They further called for unity among local leaders and respect for the grieving family.

Kericho residents have also expressed disappointment at what they see as attempts to politicize the late MP’s death. Social media reactions indicate that many locals value MP Ng’eno’s legacy as a fearless representative who advocated for his constituents without bias.

As Kericho mourns the loss of one of its most vocal politicians, local leaders are urging dignity, caution, and respect, stressing that the late MP’s political commitments were clear and should not be distorted for personal or political gain.
