Residents of Kibra on Tuesday welcomed President William Ruto during a series of development rallies in the area, where he engaged locals and rallied support for his 2027 re-election bid.

The President made stopovers at Joseph Kangethe Primary School, Raila Education Centre, and Ayany Primary School, addressing residents and outlining his government’s development agenda.

During the rally, Raila Odinga Jr. was present and publicly acknowledged the President’s efforts in national development.

In a move that drew cheers from the crowd, he declared his support for Ruto and welcomed him back to Kibra.

The development comes in the wake of the passing of his father, Raila Odinga. Since then, Raila Junior and his sister, Winnie Odinga, have remained vocal on political matters within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Notably, Raila Junior had recently raised concerns over ODM’s continued cooperation with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), urging the party to pursue a more independent political path ahead of the 2027 elections.

His latest stance in support of Ruto also comes shortly after President Ruto appointed his mother, Ida Odinga, as Kenya’s Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
