Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has ignited a fresh political storm after reportedly making strong and unverified allegations against President William Ruto during a heated political address in Kisumu.

His remarks which have since gone viral in political circles accused the Head of State of involvement in a series of grave actions including political violence and economic misconduct.

According to accounts of the speech Tuju claimed that the President had been linked to the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the deaths of young protesters popularly referred to as Gen Z demonstrators and the alleged unlawful acquisition of agricultural land and a major company in Muhoroni.

The remarks delivered in a charged political atmosphere immediately drew sharp reactions from both supporters and critics across the political divide.

In translated form Tuju’s controversial statement was quoted as saying he has killed Raila Odinga he has killed Gen Z protesters and he has stolen farms and the Muhoroni company.

The allegations however were not accompanied by evidence during the address and no formal documentation was presented to support the claims.

The remarks have since sparked widespread debat with supporters of Tuju defending his right to express political concerns while government allies have condemned the statements as reckless, inflammatory and potentially damaging to national cohesion.

Critics argue that such accusations risk escalating political tensions at a time when the country is grappling with economic pressure and youth led protests demanding accountability and reforms.

Political analysts note that the speech reflects the deepening divisions within Kenya’s political landscape where rhetoric has become increasingly confrontational ahead of anticipated realignments and future elections.

They warn that unchecked political statements especially those involving serious allegations could further polarize the electorate and erode public trust in leadership institutions.

Meanwhile allies of the President have dismissed the claims as politically motivated propaganda aimed at discrediting the administration.

They insist that due process and legal frameworks should be used to address any grievances rather than public accusations made at political rallies.

As reactions continue to pour in the controversy surrounding Tuju’s remarks is expected to dominate political discussions in the coming days with calls mounting for leaders to exercise restraint and responsibility in their public statements.
