Under the PSC's remuneration structure, the holder of the office earns a basic monthly salary ranging from KSh 292,765 to KSh 576,120, depending on experience and placement within the salary scale.
In addition to the basic salary, the position attracts several fixed monthly allowances. These include a house allowance of up to KSh 100,000, an entertainment allowance of up to KSh 100,000, an extraneous allowance of up to KSh 100,000, and a domestic servants' allowance of up to KSh 100,000.
When combined, the allowances amount to approximately KSh 400,000 per month. This places the estimated gross monthly earnings for the Government Spokesperson between KSh 692,765 at the entry level and KSh 976,120 at the highest salary bracket.
Beyond the monthly pay, the office also comes with other public service benefits, including comprehensive medical cover, leave allowances and 30 working days of annual leave each financial year.
The appointment marks Charles Owino's return to a prominent public communication role after years of serving as one of the country's most recognizable police spokespersons.
