Nyoro said opposition parties should put aside their differences and engage in negotiations aimed at identifying one presidential candidate and a running mate capable of mounting a strong challenge in the election.
Speaking about the political landscape, Nyoro argued that the opposition should begin the process early rather than wait until the election campaign gains momentum.
He said consultations among leaders would provide an opportunity to assess potential candidates and agree on a leadership team acceptable to supporters across different political formations.
“As people in the opposition, we should all unite, sit around the table and choose a leader to contest the presidency and another to serve as deputy, so that by August next year, we have one flag bearer,” Nyoro said.
His remarks come as political parties and leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential contest, which is expected to attract competition from several established and emerging political formations.
The former lawmaker stressed the importance of avoiding multiple presidential candidates within the opposition, arguing that a united ticket would give the political camp a clearer strategy and stronger bargaining position.
