President William Ruto has landed in Siaya County to lead the official commissioning and formal handover of the newly completed Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo.

Shortly after his arrival at the venue, the President has presented the official handover documents and national commemorative plaque directly to Mama Ida Odinga, marking the official transformation of the late statesman’s resting place into a recognized national monument.

The military-led ceremony has brought together key executive leaders, regional governors, and senior government officials alongside members of the Odinga family on the sacred grounds.

President Ruto has emphasized the national significance of preserving the former Prime Minister's extensive legacy, acknowledging his crucial contributions to Kenya’s democratic journey and constitutional governance.

Meanwhile, Mama Ida Odinga has expressed deep gratitude to the state and the Kenya Defence Forces for their dedicated work in executing the project.

The project, managed under the supervision of military engineers, has transitioned into the official custody and protection of the National Museums of Kenya.

Security officers and event organizers have maintained orderly proceedings at the family compound while nearby public screens at Nyamira Primary School have allowed thousands of local residents to watch the live ceremony.

This historic handover has represented a profound moment of national reflection and political reconciliation, uniting former political adversaries around a shared historical tribute.

As the military protocols conclude, President Ruto and the delegation have proceeded to lay commemorative wreaths at the mausoleum, sealing a memorable national tribute in Bondo.
