Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has refuted claims about his whereabouts on the day Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda has alleged he was in Bondo.

Senator Ojienda's statement, has publicly asserted that the former Deputy President was at the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Opoda home to condole with the family, just a week after the burial.

The Senator has also urged Kenyans to mourn with the Odinga family and not to stop anyone from visiting Bondo, while also calling for focus on strengthening the party to ensure President William Ruto has a win in 2027.

However, Gachagua has quickly moved to clarify his location through his social media accounts, effectively dismissing the Senator's claim.

A post made just minutes before the news has revealed that he was, in fact, in Nairobi.

The former Deputy President has confirmed that he and his family have joined the Christian faithful at the House of Grace Church in Nairobi for a church service on this specific Sunday.

This revelation has clarified Gachagua's movements, creating a clear contradiction to the report by the Kisumu Senator.

The former Deputy President has chosen to use his official platform to directly address and correct the public record on his activities.

Above all confirming that he has spent the day in a religious service in the capital city, not at the late opposition leader's rural home.

The contrasting reports have have drawn attention to the political dynamics surrounding the period of national mourning.
