Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa has called on President William Ruto to consider appointing veteran trade unionist Seth Panyako to a government position, citing his unwavering commitment to public service and grassroots mobilization.
Ndakwa made the appeal on Friday while addressing jubilant residents moments after receiving his election certificate.
The event, filled with celebration and energetic crowds, took an unexpected turn when Ndakwa was forced to cut his speech short as residents broke into loud chants in support of both him and Panyako.
The MP-elect eventually joined them, symbolizing unity and the strong political camaraderie that has defined Malava’s recent political landscape.
Before the interruption, Ndakwa had praised Panyako for his decades-long service in labour leadership and regional politics.
He noted that Panyako’s contributions—especially in advocating for workers’ welfare make him a suitable candidate for national responsibilities within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“Seth Panyako has been steadfast in standing with the people and supporting the government. His leadership experience and commitment to justice for workers make him deserving of a role at the national level,” Ndakwa stated.
He added that recognizing such loyalty would strengthen trust between the government and its supporters, particularly in Western Kenya.
Ndakwa emphasized that leaders with strong community roots, like Panyako, can help drive development and foster confidence in government institutions.
His remarks come at a time when leaders from the region are increasingly pushing for greater inclusion in government appointments following recent electoral successes.
Although President Ruto has yet to respond to the request, Ndakwa’s public appeal punctuated by the electrifying chants of his supporters has added momentum to the conversation surrounding Panyako’s potential role in the government.
