Sifuna Celebrating UDA Win Sparks Threats Of Being Summoned Amid ODM's By-Election Loss

Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna is facing sharp criticism from youthful activist Kasmuel Mcoure for publicly celebrating a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) victory while his own Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party suffered a defeat in a separate by-election.

The criticism stems from the recently concluded by-elections, where UDA secured a win in Nanam Ward, Turkana County, while ODM lost the Kariobangi North Ward race.

In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Mcoure accused Senator Sifuna, a senior ODM official, of misdirecting his energy.

Mcoure suggested that Sifuna has been focusing on "irrelevant matters" within ODM that create internal conflict and undermine cooperation with the UDA administration, instead of championing the party's own candidates.

He argued that if the Senator had directed the same vigor used on internal party affairs towards campaigning for ODM's Michael Ouma Majua in Kariobangi North, the party would have "easily won the by-election early in the morning."

The activist emphasized that securing a victory in Kariobangi North Ward was a more significant and achievable goal for ODM than celebrating a UDA win in Nanam.

He stated that the Nairobi ward "should have been, and could have been, a crucial win" for the party.

Mcoure further reminded Sifuna that his key responsibility during the by-elections was to "defend and advance ODM’s interests" in critical areas like Kariobangi North.

The post concluded with a warning that the ODM party would hold Sifuna accountable for his actions and his failure to provide the necessary communication to support the party's strategic objectives.

This critique came after Senator Sifuna had publicly lauded UDA for its Nanam Ward victory, a move that attracted significant attention and criticism on social media platforms.

The exchange highlights internal tensions and strategic debates within the opposition party following the by-election results.
