Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has strongly responded to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s recent claims that a political plan is being crafted to block him from winning a second term in 2027.
The exchange adds fresh heat to the already tense political atmosphere as the November 27 by-elections draw near.
Speaking in a Sunday interview, Natembeya dismissed Mudavadi’s remarks as baseless and unnecessary.
He accused both Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula of prioritizing political drama instead of addressing the real needs of the people of Western Kenya.
According to Natembeya, the two leaders are using their influence to shape political narratives rather than improving the lives of the communities they represent.
Natembeya argued that if Mudavadi and Wetang’ula put the same level of effort into development as they allegedly do in political scheming, the region would be far ahead.
He highlighted that the two leaders have held national positions for decades, yet the area still struggles with key issues such as poor infrastructure, unemployment, and underinvestment.
“The speed that they want to use to push me out of office is the same speed they should apply in bringing development to our people,” Natembeya said.
He added that Mudavadi and Wetang’ula have a combined political career of about 70 years, yet he believes their legacy in Western Kenya remains thin.
Instead of working on projects that uplift citizens, he claimed, they seem more focused on plans to undermine his leadership.
Natembeya insisted that he is not shaken by the claims and vowed to continue serving the people of Trans Nzoia with commitment.
He said his administration is focused on improving essential services, supporting farmers, and creating opportunities for young people.
