Bahati MP Irene Njoki has taken a swipe at DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua, saying the political tides in Mt Kenya have shifted after the Opposition’s defeat.

Speaking during President William Ruto’s development rally in Nakuru, Njoki said she had just come from Mbeere to monitor the situation, which she noted was now clearly leaning toward Tutam.

She added that Gachagua’s long-held claim of commanding the Mt Kenya vote had finally met its reality.

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika thanked the leaders who campaigned for the UDA candidate, insisting that the Mt Kenya region still stands firmly behind President Ruto.

Kihika urged residents to rally behind Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid, saying continued support would ensure steady development from the government.

She highlighted Ruto’s affordable housing program, SHA initiative, market upgrades, and ongoing road projects as examples of his commitment.

President Ruto reassured Mt Kenya residents of his dedication to the region, reminding them that they firmly backed him in the 2022 General Election.

He posed a simple question whether Mt Kenya would re-elect him for another term and the crowd responded with a resounding yes.
