The body of Chief Inspector Dennis Kwena Ayoma, who served with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, was found in a one-room house in the Majengo area of Ololilai, Kajiado County.
Neighbours became concerned when they noticed a strong smell coming from the officer’s house. They alerted the police, who visited the scene, broke into the house, and found the body lying on the bed.
The body was already decomposing, suggesting he had been dead for several days. Police later confirmed that Ayoma was last seen in the area on Sunday evening.
Authorities said the officer had taken a short leave from duty and was expected to return to work on November 16, 2025.
His sudden death has raised many questions, and investigators are working to establish both the time and cause of death. So far, no foul play has been confirmed, but detectives are keeping all possibilities open.
The body was moved to the local mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to piece together what happened in the days leading up to his death.
