Rift Valley lawmakers are calling on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following his remarks on the death of former Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla.
The group, led by MP Johana Ng’eno and Senator Jackson Mandago, accused Kalonzo of making politically charged statements that could stoke tension ahead of the 2027 elections. They urged him to present evidence if he had any before making public claims.
Speaking on Sunday, December 7, Emurua Dikirr MP Ng’eno said, “We want Kalonzo to report to the DCI and provide any information he may have regarding Ogolla’s death. If someone is responsible, they must be held accountable.”
Senator Mandago also criticized Kalonzo, questioning his moral authority to make such claims.
He linked Kalonzo to alleged irregularities in the 2007 presidential election, which led to nationwide violence.
“If he were truly honest, he should not have served as vice president after losing the election,” Mandago stated during a church fundraiser in Kanui, Baringo North.
Kalonzo made the remarks during the burial of Raila Odinga’s sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga, on December 6. He suggested that General Ogolla’s death was not accidental and insisted the circumstances needed thorough investigation.
This is not the first time Kalonzo has raised questions about Ogolla’s death. In April, he claimed the former military leader had been sent on a questionable assignment and invited the DCI to summon him to clarify his position.
The Rift Valley lawmakers warned that sensational claims by political figures could fuel division as the nation heads toward the 2027 polls.
They urged Kenyans to remain cautious and seek verified information before drawing conclusions.
