Moses Kuria Alleges Why MP Aladwa Rejected Bid To Be His Deputy in Nairobi 2027 Race

Just days ago, former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced his intention to vie for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat and publicly expressed his desire for Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa to be his deputy.

The announcement hinted at a significant cross-party agreement ahead of the 2027 General Election.

However, speaking at a public event yesterday, MP Aladwa firmly rejected the offer, stating that he has plans to vie as a gubernatorial candidate himself and has no intention of being a running mate to anyone.

This sudden turn of events marked a swift collapse of the proposed political pact.

Fast forward, Moses Kuria has now alleged what transpired, claiming powerful forces are behind the rejection.

In a statement posted on his social media account, Hon. Moses Kuria has revealed that George Aladwa was summoned by "holders of extremely powerful offices" last evening and was ordered to denounce their alleged agreement on Nairobi Governor ticket.

Kuria has expressed respect for Aladwa's decision but has issued a stern message to the forces he alleges were at play.

"I want to tell those forces to relax. I want to be Governor of Nairobi to save this collapsing city. But it’s not life and death affair for me," Kuria has written.

He has further alleged that this move has prematurely exposed the political strategy of his opponents, stating, "Again by doing this you have let the cat out of the bag too early. Now we know your 2027 game plan. Thanks a lot."

Kuria’s strong words indicate that the unexpected dissolution of the alliance has not deterred his resolve to seek the city's top job.

It has also instead fueled speculation regarding the political dynamics and shadowy influences shaping the Nairobi gubernatorial race.
