Lawyer and activist Ndegwa Njiru has escalated his criticism of President William Ruto, warning that the country risks severe institutional and economic damage if the current administration remains in power.
In a strongly worded political statement, Njiru accused the government of reckless governance and alleged that continued leadership under Ruto would leave Kenya weakened and stripped of its national assets.
Njiru urged Kenyans to adopt a new political resolve in 2026 aimed at removing the president from office through constitutional means.
He outlined a strategy anchored on the sovereignty of the people and the defence of the Constitution, emphasizing the use of provisions that guarantee public participation, constitutionalism, national values and the right to assemble and protest peacefully.
According to him, the Constitution provides mechanisms for what he described as public impeachment, where sustained civic action applies pressure for accountability and leadership change.
He pointed to consistent, intense and peaceful demonstrations, alongside organized sit-ins, as legitimate tools available to citizens.
His remarks have intensified national debate on governance, constitutional activism and the limits of public protest, with supporters praising his bold stance while critics accuse him of fueling political tension.
