The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has dismissed claims that the party is collapsing following the death of its long-serving leader, Raila Odinga.
Deputy party leader Godfrey Osotsi said predictions of the party’s downfall are “daydreaming,” adding that ODM will continue to grow stronger despite the loss of its iconic figure.
He explained that the party is reorganizing its structures to ensure it remains a dominant political force and warned rivals against attempting to weaken its strongholds.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nasir echoed Osotsi’s remarks, emphasizing that ODM was built as an institution and cannot be dismantled easily.
He said the party is preparing to either form the next government or play a major role in the administration that will take office after the 2027 general elections.
Party officials, including Chairperson Gladys Wanga, Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga, and Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, reassured supporters that ODM remains intact.
They called on members to stay united and safeguard the party’s future.
The leaders spoke during the funeral of Dr. Oburu’s sister, Beryl Odinga, at Nyamira Primary School grounds in Bondo Sub-County.
At the event, Raila Odinga’s widow, Idah Odinga, reiterated that the party faces no leadership vacuum despite her husband’s passing.
ODM has historically been a major player in Kenyan politics, and its leaders are keen to show that it continues to have strong structures and widespread support.
The party’s emphasis on unity and institutional strength is aimed at reassuring both members and the public that it remains a credible political force.
