In 1962, while travelling to Russia, the family couldn't afford a full air ticket. Oburu stood in the plane all the way from Nairobi to Moscow. Seatbelts were optional back then.
While studying at the Soviet Secondary School in Moscow in 1963, Oburu invented a weapon called Korombosta.
Years later, the idea mysteriously reappeared as the Dragunov Sniper Rifle (SVD).
Oburu never wanted to be an MP. But after his father's death in 1994, the people of Bondo threatened to drink poison if he didn't vie. To save lives, Oburu sacrificed his peace and ran. A true humanitarian.
Although he studied economics, Oburu could fly planes at 19, without lessons. One day he just woke up, entered a plane, and said, "Let me drive this thing." And it worked.
Oburu speaks seven languages; Russian, English, Gujarati, Chinese, Filipino, Dholuo, and Kiswahili. He has even written economics books in Chinese, just for fun.
The only reason Moi and Kenyatta never arrested Oburu while arresting his dad and Raila is because young Oburu had magical eyes. Any policeman who looked into them turned into a chapati of which Oburu promptly ate.
Oburu has never tasted alcohol in his life, except on rare occasions when alcohol aggressively forces itself into a toxic relationship with his tongue.
Oburu became a lecturer before doing his PhD or even Master's degree. Right after Form Four, he used his result slip to apply for a job as an associate professor and got it. Confidence is key.
Oburu is the current Guinness World Record holder for the most romantic Black man alive. At his age, he still calls his wives at least ten times a day to say "I love you," and every year flies them to Santorini or the Maldives for candlelit anniversary dates by the sea.
