As reported by Daily Nation under the popular “Talk of the Town” column, attention has now turned to President William Ruto following reports of a serious disagreement between a Cabinet Secretary (CS) and a Principal Secretary (PS) in one of the key ministries.

According to the report, the working relationship between the two senior government officials has allegedly broken down due to disagreements over power and responsibilities within the ministry.

Many observers are now waiting to see how President Ruto will step in to resolve the dispute and restore harmony.

The report claims that the CS, whose name was not revealed by the media house, is unhappy with the conduct of the PS.

The CS is said to have complained that the PS has been overstepping his mandate by making public announcements on policies that should strictly be communicated by the CS.

In normal government operations, such public communication is expected to come from the Cabinet Secretary, who serves as the political head of the ministry. This situation has reportedly created tension and confusion within the ministry.

Further, the Daily Nation report alleges that matters worsened after the CS was placed in a difficult position during a recent meeting with Members of Parliament.

The PS is said to have set the CS up to face tough questions from legislators, giving the impression that there was poor coordination and leadership inside the ministry. This reportedly embarrassed the CS and further damaged trust between the two officials.

According to the same report, the PS has lately appeared untouchable within the ministry.

This perception is said to have emerged after it became clear that the PS could also make appointments, a role that many believe should be handled by higher authorities.

This development reportedly shocked some staff and deepened the power struggle.
