Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto, raising serious concerns over the safety of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking on Sunday, January 25, Kalonzo said any harm to Gachagua would have grave consequences for the country and accused the current administration of creating an unsafe political environment.

“If anything happens to Rigathi Gachagua, William Ruto, you will not have a country, starting with yourself. Let us pray for our brother. Just the other day, we visited his home and saw his wife, Reverend Dorcas, struggling with the fear and anxiety this situation has caused,” Kalonzo said.

He further condemned what he described as an erosion of Kenya’s democratic values, appealing to international partners to take note of the situation.

“This is not the country we have been working to build. We have tried, brick by brick, to strengthen democracy and good governance. I call on all our international partners to declare William Ruto a pariah if this situation continues,” Kalonzo added.

The warning follows alarming claims by Gachagua regarding a security incident at a church service in Othaya, Nyeri County.

According to a statement released on Sunday, Gachagua said he and fellow worshippers were attacked while attending service at Wairima ACK Church.

Gachagua alleged that security personnel deployed tear gas and live bullets inside the church, creating a dangerous and tense situation for congregants.

“William Ruto has sent a killer squad to target us inside Wairima ACK Church, Othaya. We are trapped, being attacked with live bullets and tear gas, and my vehicles have been set on fire,” Gachagua said.

He appealed to the public for prayers for his safety and that of others present during the incident, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

“We ask Kenyans to pray that we come out alive,” he added.

Photographs from the scene show thick clouds of smoke and people running for cover, illustrating the chaotic and frightening nature of the attack.

The incident has raised serious questions about the role of security forces and their involvement in politically sensitive situations.

At the time of reporting, details regarding why security personnel were deployed and whether they acted under official orders remain unclear.
