According to NTV Reports highly placed sources in the security docket indicate that there are powerful forces in the Interior Ministry who want to replace IG Kanja with either Eliud Lagat or Gilbert Masengeli.
Douglas Kanja was sworn into office in September 2024 as substantive police boss following Japheth Koome's resignation.
He has a constitutional tenure of four years, meaning if he serves a full term, his contract will run until September 2028.
However reports now indicate that there are powerful Forces within Interior Ministry who are keen to elbow him out in favour of either of his Deputies that is Eliud Lagat or Gilbert Masengeli.
IG Kanja was contacted to give his view, but he reportedly responded 'No Comment"
Eliud Lagat is currently serving as the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Kenya Police, while Masengeli is in charge of the Administration Police.
The two are being viewed as the front runners who may possibly replace Douglas Kanja, in the major shake-up that sources indicate is looming.
Reports also Indicate that DCI boss Mohammed Amin is also set to exit office as his contract is set to lapse this coming April.
