Martha Karua has weighed into the ongoing wrangles within ODM, claiming the party is struggling to find a clear political direction following the passing of its leader Raila Odinga in October last year.
Karua argues that the absence of Raila’s unifying authority has exposed deep divisions among senior party figures over leadership and strategy.
She specifically pointed to Junet Mohamed, saying Raila had entrusted him with significant responsibilities before his death.
According to Karua, this has now become a source of tension as different factions question who holds legitimate authority to steer the party forward.
ODM has in recent months witnessed open disagreements among its top officials, with competing statements on alliances, succession, and the party’s posture ahead of the 2027 elections.
Some leaders have called for internal consultations, while others have pushed for immediate political realignments.
Karua warned that unless ODM addresses its internal divisions and agrees on a common path, the party risks weakening its influence nationally and losing the cohesion that Raila maintained for decades.
