As the next general election (2027) is drawing closer key political parties and leaders are putting extra efforts to ensure that they clinch the seats. 

For instance, the Broader Opposition Team led by the former deputy president, Hon Rigathi Gachagua, together with other opposition leaders like the wiper party leader, Hon Stephen Kalonzo, are putting extra efforts to make president Ruto a one term president.

The head of state, Dr William Ruto, is also doubling his efforts to ensure that come next general election he defends his seat and serve his second term despite the efforts of the broader opposition team to unseat him. 

However, president Ruto is currently battling with the headache on whom to pick as his running mate come next general election. 

List of leaders president Ruto might pick as deputy includes; the chief cabinet secretary, Hon Musalia Mudavadi, the current deputy president, Prof Kithure Kindiki, orange party leader, Hon Oburu Odinga, Blue economy cabinet secretary, Hon Hassan Joho, are among leaders who president Ruto might pick.

Western region, Mt Kenya region and Luo Nyanza are the regions president Ruto might consider when picking his candidate come next general election.
