Kenyan social media commentator Wanja Nyarari has come out strongly in defense of Bishop Muthee Kiengei following intense online criticism over his decision to host President William Ruto at his church.

The controversy began after President Ruto attended the third anniversary celebration of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministries, popularly known as JCM. During the event, the Head of State pledged a donation of KSh 8 million to support the church’s projects.

While some congregants welcomed the contribution, a section of Kenyans online questioned the move, accusing the bishop of aligning himself too closely with political power.

Investigators say Mwangi is a close ally of Peter Muhia Njenga, who is described as the mastermind and chief coordinator of a criminal network linked to robbery with violence and murder cases that have left traders living in fear.

The gang is accused of attacking business premises at night and escaping with cash and goods worth millions of shillings.

Authorities also believe the group has connections to a kidnapping ring that has been operating within the same counties.

Detectives say efforts are ongoing to arrest more suspects who are still in hiding.

The arrest is seen as a major breakthrough in the fight against organized crime in the region.

Police have assured the public that operations will continue until all members of the syndicate are brought to justice.

Mwangi remains in custody and is expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
