Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang'o, has sparked widespread debate after publicly sharing his views on the 2027 presidential contest.

His bold prediction about who will win the next General Election has drawn sharp reactions from Kenyans across social media.

In remarks made on February 24, 2026, the MP expressed confidence that President William Ruto will secure re-election by a significantly larger margin than in 2022.

He argued that while the President won his first term by roughly 200,000 votes, the 2027 outcome would see that figure grow to between two and three million votes.

The statement quickly ignited online criticism, with many users dismissing the projection as exaggerated. Some netizens accused the legislator of underestimating voters, warning leaders against making sweeping assumptions about the electorate.

Others revisited his background in entertainment, suggesting the remarks sounded more theatrical than analytical. A section of commenters even cautioned that taking such a firm stance so early could have political consequences for him in his own constituency.

However, not all reactions were negative, as a handful of supporters backed his opinion and maintained that the President still commands substantial support nationwide.

The exchange highlights the rising political temperatures as conversations around the 2027 elections steadily gain momentum.
