In a bizarre twist that has left Kenyans buzzing on social media and beyond, self-proclaimed Prophet David Owuor, leader of the Repentance and Holiness Ministry, has been caught in the spotlight once again.

This time, it's not for his dramatic prophecies or claims of miraculous healings, but for allegedly attempting to "bless" a TV47 investigative crew with KSh 20,000 each  money he insisted came straight "from the Lord."

But was this a genuine act of divine generosity, or a clumsy bid to influence journalists digging into his controversial church practices?

The drama unfolded amid TV47's hard-hitting exposé titled "Divine or Deceptive: Miracles Under Scrutiny," which aired recently and zeroed in on Owuor's bold assertions of healing over 30 HIV patients through prayer.

The investigative team, armed with confidential files and testimonies from desperate believers, was probing whether these "miracles" were the real deal or a dangerous ploy preying on vulnerable Kenyans facing health crises.

Sources close to the story reveal that as the crew delved deeper, Owuor or his representatives reached out, sending the cash via mobile money to each member involved.

According to reports circulating on platforms like Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), the prophet framed the transfer as a heavenly gift, perhaps hoping to soften the blow of the upcoming revelations.323ace However, the TV47 journalists weren't buying it – literally.

The money was promptly reversed, with the crew opting to maintain their integrity and continue the investigation unswayed.

One insider quipped on social media, "It was not each but for the group, in fact it was not 20k," hinting at possible exaggerations in the initial buzz, but the core allegation stands: an attempt to meddle with media freedom under the guise of spirituality.

For those unfamiliar, Prophet Owuor has been a polarizing figure in Kenya's religious landscape for years. Known for his lavish convoys, apocalyptic sermons, and claims of direct communication with God, he's built a massive following while attracting equal parts devotion and skepticism.

Past controversies include allegations of cult-like control over followers, financial opacity in his ministry, and unverified "healings" that have left some adherents worse off after ditching medical treatment.
