"Itakuwa Aje Ivo?" Wahome Thuku Questions Poll Putting Kithure Kindiki ahead of Gachagua, Warns of Ruto Succession Impact

Advocate of the High Court Wahome Thuku has raised pointed questions following an opinion poll shared by former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, which places Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki ahead of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by 70 per cent to 30 per cent in terms of preference. While acknowledging that Kindiki is already the sitting Deputy President, Thuku argues that the conversation should not end with headline figures.

At the centre of Thuku’s concern is the sample size used in the poll. With only about 15,000 respondents, he questions whether such numbers can meaningfully represent the views of more than 55 million Kenyans. In his view, national politics cannot be reduced to neat percentages drawn from a relatively small pool, especially in a country where political opinion is deeply influenced by region, class and lived experience.
