Lang'ata Member of Parliament Honourable Felix Odour better known to his followers as Jalang'o. He has reacted to a recent Online Opinion Poll of him taking the second position with a 23% for the Nairobi Senatorial post ahead of the awaited 2027 General elections.
The poll, which has been circulating widely on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram, indicates that incumbent Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna maintains a strong lead, while Jalang'o garners approximately 23% support among potential voters.
This positions the former radio presenter and comedian as a notable challenger but still trailing the ODM Secretary General.
Jalang'o, who officially declared his intention to vie for the Nairobi Senate seat in February 2026, expressed optimism about the figures despite the gap. In reactions shared across online discussions and posts, supporters highlighted that achieving 23% shortly after entering the race is a promising sign of momentum.
One widely shared comment noted, "If Jalas who only spoke 10 days ago is already at 23, Sifuna should definitely be a worried man."
Jalang'o himself appeared upbeat, with some reports describing him as "over the moon" about the poll results, viewing it as evidence of growing grassroots support and his rising profile in Nairobi politics.
The Lang'ata MP has framed his campaign around stronger oversight of county resources, leveraging his parliamentary experience and direct engagement with residents.
He has repeatedly voiced confidence in securing the ODM nomination and ultimately winning the seat, whether running solo or in a coalition. "My name will be on the ballot, and I will win by a wide margin," Jalang'o stated in earlier interviews following his declaration.
The poll comes amid an internal ODM contest, as both Jalang'o and Sifuna are aligned with the party. Critics have questioned Jalang'o's move from a constituency seat (with access to CDF funds) to the county-wide senatorial role, with some online voices labeling it as strategic caution or underestimation of challenges. Others praise his discipline and track record in Lang'ata, where he previously won a tight race in 2022.
Social media reactions remain divided. Supporters argue the 23% reflects early traction for a fresh contender, while detractors point to Sifuna's incumbency and party influence as insurmountable barriers. Some posts suggest Jalang'o's support could grow with more campaigning, especially if he mobilizes beyond his Lang'ata base.
