Commuters along Kiambu Road were left stunned after a heated road rage incident saw a bodaboda rider deliberately block a matatu carrying dozens of passengers, bringing traffic to a standstill as he confronted the driver.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident unfolded during a busy period when traffic was already heavy. A minor disagreement on the road quickly escalated after the bodaboda rider stopped his motorcycle directly in front of the matatu, preventing it from moving forward.

Passengers inside the vehicle were forced to watch helplessly as the confrontation turned aggressive.

Videos circulating online show the rider gesturing angrily and attempting to provoke the matatu driver into a physical fight.

At one point, he reportedly kicked the front of the vehicle, drawing gasps from passengers and nearby motorists.

The matatu driver remained inside the vehicle as tensions rose, with commuters pleading for calm and urging both parties to consider the safety of those on board.

The standoff caused a temporary traffic snarl, with vehicles piling up behind the matatu. Some pedestrians and fellow motorists intervened, trying to defuse the situation before it spiraled further out of control.

After several tense minutes, the rider eventually moved his motorcycle, allowing the matatu to proceed.

Passengers later expressed frustration, saying they feared for their safety during the confrontation. “We were just trying to get to town, then suddenly we are caught in someone else’s anger,” one commuter said.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing problem of road rage on major highways, particularly involving public service vehicles and motorcycle riders.

Road safety advocates are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and better conflict resolution among road users.

Police have not confirmed whether any arrests were made, but authorities are urging motorists to remain calm and avoid confrontations that could put innocent lives at risk.
