Renowned city preacher Reverend Lucy Natasha has opened up about the unexpected personal cost that came with making her engagement public before marrying Prophet Carmel.

The Empowerment The Christian Church founder revealed that her announcement led to a silent exit of several male congregants who had hidden intentions.

She said the experience shocked her and tested her understanding of ministry and boundaries.

She explained that challenges did not only come from social media but also in real life. Rev. Natasha said that after making her engagement public, more than ten men quietly left the ministry.

She noted that she had not known they wanted to marry her, as she viewed them only as her spiritual sons, adding that it is not right to marry someone you are pastoring.

Rev. Natasha rose to national fame in 2017 through her Miracle Monday services, which attracted thousands of young believers in Nairobi.

Her modern approach to preaching and strong online presence helped her build a global following, especially among millennials and Gen Zs.

She later founded Empowerment Christian Church, which operated from Nairobi CBD before shifting fully online due to space and growth challenges.

She has often spoken openly about the high cost of ministry, from rent and equipment to staff salaries.

Her love story with Prophet Carmel began through ministry work in India and grew into a long-distance relationship that led to marriage in 2022.

Their union drew public attention after she revealed paying a dowry worth about Sh17 million due to cultural traditions.

Despite criticism and online rumours, Rev. Natasha says faith, trust and purpose keep her marriage strong as she continues to lead a generation that believes you can serve God and still be yourself.
