Kenya continues to invest in sports as part of a wider national program. Public attention has grown around football projects linked to government policy and youth development plans across the country.

On Tuesday the planned State House ceremony for the Presidents Cup did not take place. Officials later said the event would be held on another date to be announced soon publicly.

The tournament is run by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in partnership with government agencies. It aims to build football from ward level to national finals using a step by step format.

Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed said the delay followed talks with officials from all branches. He noted that work would continue on youth and womens football programs nationwide this year.

The launch was to bring together club leaders and grassroots managers at State House Nairobi. Organizers said the competition allows each team to register up to twenty three players per side.

Funding for the tournament was set at about six hundred twenty million shillings after a review. This figure is lower than an earlier proposal made during planning stages by the government.

The project supports a wider sports plan that includes new stadiums and football academies. Authorities link these efforts to preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in two thousand twenty seven.

Despite the sudden change organizers said coordination among partners remains strong. They expect the Presidents Cup to begin after a fresh timetable is shared with counties and clubs across the nation.
