Governor George Natembeya has questioned the use of public money following a large political gathering held at State House. He raised concern over reports that each participant attending the meeting is being given 20,000 shillings. With more than twelve thousand people said to be present, the total amount involved is estimated to be close to 300 million shillings.

Natembeya argues that the money being used is not party funds. He insists it is drawn from public taxes and therefore affects every Kenyan. In his view, spending such a huge sum in a single day for a political meeting shows poor priorities at a time when the country is struggling with economic pressure.

To help Kenyans understand the scale of the spending, the governor compared it to road construction costs. He explained that building one kilometer of tarmac road in rural areas costs between 20 and 40 million shillings. Based on this estimate, the money used for the meeting could build close to 15 kilometers of road.

He pointed out that such funds could be used to connect rural communities and improve access to services. As an example, he mentioned that areas like Kipsongo and Kisawai could benefit from such infrastructure instead of the money being spent on a one day event.
