Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has declared that the North Eastern region will continue supporting President William Ruto, saying the community values dignity and inclusion over development promises.
Speaking on Tuesday during an event, Duale said the region stands firmly behind the Head of State even if it has not received major infrastructure projects.
“As North Eastern region, we will stand with Ruto even if he hasn’t built roads or given us anything. He has given us our dignity, making us to be equal to other Kenyans,” Duale said.
His remarks drew applause from leaders and residents who had gathered to welcome the President during his tour of the region.
Duale noted that for many years, the people of North Eastern felt sidelined and treated differently from other parts of the country.
He said the current administration has changed that narrative by ensuring the region is represented and respected at the national level.
The Cabinet Secretary added that inclusion in government and recognition of the region’s concerns were more important than physical projects alone. According to him, dignity and equal treatment form the foundation of true development.
President Ruto, who addressed the gathering after Duale, reaffirmed his commitment to improving livelihoods in the region. He promised continued investment in security, water projects, education and economic empowerment programmes.
Local leaders who spoke at the event echoed Duale’s sentiments, saying the region has experienced a new sense of belonging under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The President’s visit to Garissa is part of his broader tour of the North Eastern region aimed at strengthening support and launching development initiatives.
