A political meeting led by Rigathi Gachagua turned chaotic after a man was attacked while recording a video.
The event took place in Nakuru, where Gachagua, the leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), was addressing supporters. In the video, Gachagua is seen standing on top of his car while speaking to a large crowd.
As he speaks, a man appears in the foreground recording himself with his phone. The man is heard shouting “form ni two term” while facing the camera.
Moments later, the situation suddenly changes. Two men dressed in green, military-like fatigue clothes quickly approach the man.
Without warning, they begin to beat him, punching him hard. The man is heard screaming as the crowd reacts, and the scene quickly turns chaotic.
Gachagua, a former deputy president, has recently been holding rallies across the country as part of his political campaign. He has been leading efforts to challenge President William Ruto and has vowed to remove him from office.
Recent reports show that Gachagua and other opposition leaders are working together to ensure Ruto does not secure another term in the 2027 elections.
The former deputy president has been vocal in his criticism of the current government, promising sustained political pressure in the coming months.
The Nakuru incident now raises concerns about political tolerance and security at political gatherings, especially as campaigns begin to intensify ahead of the next general election. Gachagua is in Nakuru as he seeks to woo residents to support him and the opposition team in the upcoming general elections.
