Herman Manyora has made bold remarks on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, describing the embattled politician as having outgrown his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and positioning himself for a far larger role in Kenya’s political landscape.

Speaking during his daily political analysis on Monday, March 9, 2026, Manyora highlighted Sifuna’s rising influence, noting that the senator has increasingly become a central figure in national politics.

Manyora said that Sifuna’s impact now extends beyond his role as ODM Secretary General, a position he was controversially removed from in February 2026 before being reinstated by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT).

“Sifuna is way beyond ODM. Sifuna has achieved a new space, a new identity which is bigger than ODM,” Manyora said, pointing to the senator’s growing profile and influence across political circles.

The analyst went further to suggest that traditional roles such as a running mate position may no longer be sufficient for Sifuna, indicating that by 2027, it could be the senator himself looking for someone to deputise for him.

Manyora’s observations underline a perception that Sifuna is steadily positioning himself for national leadership, leveraging both his popularity and his reputation as a loyalist to late party leader Raila Odinga.

Sifuna’s rise has drawn attention amid ongoing tensions within ODM, particularly following his brief removal as Secretary General.

While the party sought to assert control, Manyora’s remarks suggest that Sifuna’s personal political brand may now eclipse the organization itself.

As the 2027 elections approach, Manyora’s comments suggest that Sifuna may not only retain his relevance within ODM but could emerge as a dominant player on the national stage, potentially reshaping Kenya’s political order.
