"I Will Still Wear Mini Skirt Even in My 80s Na Hakuna Chenye Mtafanya" Says Passaris as She Fires Back to Critics

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has once again shut down her critics with unapologetic flair, declaring she will continue wearing mini skirts well into her 80s.

In a recent interview that quickly went viral on social media, the outspoken legislator addressed ongoing online trolling about her fashion choices. Detractors frequently label her "shosho" (grandmother) and question why a woman of her age and stature doesn't opt for more conservative attire.

Passaris fired back firmly: “I will still wear my mini skirts even in my 80s, get used to it.” She urged critics to wear whatever "shosho clothes" suit them if they're comfortable, but insisted her wardrobe remains her personal choice.

This isn't the first time Passaris has faced scrutiny over her style. From a floral short skirt during golf at the East African Parliamentary Games in Uganda late last year, to a high-slit dress during a condolence visit, her outfits often spark debate.

Some accuse her of seeking attention or dressing inappropriately for public office, while others praise her confidence and challenge ageist expectations.

The MP has long championed #MyDressMyChoice, rejecting victim-blaming and arguing that women's clothing should never justify harassment or judgment.

Her latest statement reinforces that stance: personal style doesn't expire with age, and societal pressure won't dictate her look.

Public reactions remain divided. Supporters hail her as a symbol of body positivity and defiance against stereotypes, with comments like "She looks fine" and "Politics aside, congratulations." Critics, however, persist in questioning her professionalism or role-model status.

Passaris shows no signs of backing down. Her bold declaration reminds Kenyans that confidence and self-expression aren't bound by age, gender norms, or public opinion.
